M&A Management
M&A Management is a family-run business that manages three care homes across the North West of England, alongside a separate property business. They are closely involved in the day to day running of each care home and are passionate about delivering a high standard of care in safe, welcoming environments. Their focus is on both the wellbeing of residents and the continued growth of their care and property portfolio.

Project Brief
While I was working at M&A Management, I was asked to redesign and rebuild the websites for a group of care homes they were managing. The existing sites were very out of date and no longer reflected the standard of care being provided. They were also having a negative impact on new enquiries, as local competitors had modern websites that gave a much better first impression. The aim was to bring the websites up to date, make them easier to use on phones and tablets, and help the homes attract more residents through a more trustworthy and professional online presence. I also supported the project with photography, using a mix of original photos and carefully chosen stock imagery due to limitations around photographing residents and staff.

Design and Challenges
I wanted the design to feel warm, gentle and reassuring. These are places where people entrust the care of their loved ones, so it was important that the website reflected that trust and care. To add a bit of personality, I included hand drawn style illustrations such as lines and flowers, which gave the pages a friendly and welcoming feel. These details sat quietly in the background and helped soften the overall look without distracting from the main content. The colour choices were calm and comforting, and the layout was kept clean and easy to navigate, especially for older users or family members browsing on their phones.
One of the more sensitive parts of the project was working with senior staff who were not from design backgrounds. While they brought a lot of valuable insight from their experience in care, some of their suggestions led to changes in the layout or design choices. I tried to guide the decisions wherever possible, while also respecting their input and making sure the final result was something they felt confident and comfortable with.

Conclusion
The finished websites are modern, easy to use and much more in line with the level of care the homes provide. They work well across all screen sizes and now act as a key part of the homes’ marketing. The combination of thoughtful design, improved layout and refreshed photography made a real difference. I will be sharing the logo rebrand on a separate project page, but this project was a great example of using design to change perception and improve engagement in a meaningful way.
